The wall plate allows for roof pitch adjustment between 2 5 25 degrees making it suitable for almost all lean to roof applications.
Pitched roof wall plate roof.
This is part two of the porch build where i am doing the roof.
Getting the wall plates or top plates as they are sometimes called right is important because all the ceiling joists roof rafters hips etc.
Designed with flexibility in mind this lean to roofing system is suitable for a wide variety of applications.
Comprises a series of rafters fixed to plates at the top of a wall and the rafter feet are nailed to a wall plate which distributes the load evenly across the supporting wall.
In order for all the roof components to work they must be square parallel level and fixed down properly.
For example starting from the wall plate and working towards the centre or ridge if you measured in a level 12 inches or 30cms and then measured directly up at 90 and at that point the roof was 6 inches or 15cms high that would be a pitch of 6 12 or 6 in 12 and can also be simplified as 1 2.
Brief descriptions of these pitched roof types are given below.
Wall plates and the roof structure shall be bedded and fixed to distribute and transmit loads and to prevent uplift.
Easy to install and available.
Dedicated screw lines make fitting to the wall simple and trouble free.
Trussed rafter roofs and traditional cut roofs should be supported on timber wall plates.
I show how i construct it showning in detail how to do the lead flashing.
Will all be fixed to them.
